WonDerS 1.2t – Teaser Release
Posted on Wednesday 31 May 2006

Just to tease you all with the power of the DS, I am releasing two special builds, which emulates the same first ROM I added when I first released WonDers half a year ago (Wow, it’s been a lot since…)

The ZIP file contains two builds: A build without any speed limits – to show you the real processing time, and a 60FPS limited build for your enjoyment :)

I also added the old versions of WonDerS.

    Great Job!
    The speed is awsome!
Only thing missing is a bit of sound (but maybe the ROM doesn’t have any).
This is almost so cool that it makes me buy a real wonderswann :).

If you read the post correctly you can see it is a teaser release. You can’t play any roms with it, just the one that has been built into the emu.

If you got some hexadecimal skills, you might be able to use it before the official release, but heh, I advice you to wait the offiicial one, cuz if it’s not release right now, it’s just mean it’s cuz the emulator isn’t completely ready yet.

But, if you really want to mess with some things, this theory could work (if the teaser build isn’t protected for that, and if the same type of rom support is used between 1.0 and 1.2).

If you make a build of 1.0 without any roms, and one with a rom, then compare it, you notice that the 123136 first bytes are the same, mean those one are the emu build (without any rom), the others one (at the end of the file) should, so, be the rom add with the builder).

But the rom use an header of what you want to call it (not a coder at all), the “GBFS” thingy, added before the rom, in 1.0 between hex adresses : 0x1E100 0x1E13F.

    5069 6E45 6967 6874 4742 4653 0D0A 1A0A
    4000 1000 2000 0100 0000 0000 0000 0000
    6F70 2E77 7363 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000
    0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 1000 4000 0000

(example for : From_TV_Animation_-_One_Piece_-_Mezase_Kaizoku_Ou_(J)_[M].ws”, cuz it maybe depend of the rom, as the name of the file is inserted in it)

so basically, if you made a build of 1.1 with a rom, then you run an hexadecimal editor, you copy paste the data of another rom at the end of the build (starting from 0x1E140), then save it, and you should be able to play with the new rom (I didn’t tested it, so it’s only some theorical explanations)

    But the snake rom seems not to be an official wonderswan rom, so you can’t find the “GBGS” thingy, and so, not really change it without dissasemble I think, so sorry you’ll have to wait ^^;
